as entertaining, distinctive and original, THE BALLET COLLECTIVE/LAwas founded by Artistic Director/Choreography John Castagna to create and perform new choreography for the diverse audiences of Los Angeles .
The mission of the Ballet Collective/LA is to represent the cultural diversity of Los Angeles in a classical dance form and to make dance affordable and accessible to the general public. Our efforts include posting our performance and rehearsal footage on the Internet through sites such as
youtube.com and dancemedia.com.

www.dancemedia.com/v/4210 and 4212, part 1 and 2. This new collaboration
is by choreographer John Castagna, composer Mark Mercury, costume

The Ballet Collective/LA dancers are professional performers working for the company on a project-by-project basis. They collaborate closely with choreographers to create memorable performances in a fusion of contemporary movement and ballet.
Ballet Collective/ LA's video collaborations have garnered three
nominations from dancemedia.com , two for Dance Magazine's "Video of the
Month" and one for Pointe Magazine. Their work has been acclaimed by the
Los Angeles Times . LA Weekly and other publications. Castagna also
created choreography for the Emmy Award winning television program and
performance Piece by Peace (underline). The company is supported by
public grants, private donors, assistance from Yasha Michelson's Mimoda
Studio Theatre and Maestro Stefan Wenta who acts as Artistic consultant
for the company and is Castagna's mentor. Perfomance venues include the Los Angeles Theatre Center, Barnsdall
Gallery Theatre, El Portal, Ivar theatre, San Pedro's historic Warner Grand Theatre, the Pasadena Civic Auditoriaum, Diavalo Dance Space and Santa Monica's Westside Ballet Studios.
Thanks to the ongoing enthusiasm of our audience and the FRIENDS OF THE BALLET COLLECTIVE/LA, the Collective continues to expand its commitment to our audience & choreographer and dancers in Los Angeles.
